Hi! So I get a few questions every so often about what its like and what we do as environmental health academics. I thought this might be a good first discussion.
Like a lot of people, I was recruited into the EH major by Dr. Gilkey. I was presenting a poster last spring about chronic wasting disease contamination in soil and water around Fort Collins, and found out that it was really an environmental health topic. I was more interested in EH than anything else, I just had to get it pointed out to me! The major is great because it is so diverse and you can go so many directions with it.
In high school, my AP Biology teacher had a big poster all about Environmental Health as a major. I wanted a major where I could help people (and still make $). CSU has such a good program, it was actually one of the main reasons I decided to come to Colorado!
