So much has been going on since I arrived!
I had my first day interning for the World Health Organization on Monday, 2 June!! I has already been an amazing experience just walking into the building!
I was given a WHO ID badge (which is really fun to walk around town with) ...no cool points in town for sporting the badge since everyone here seems to work for some big global organization - but it does kind of make it seem like you're less of a tourist.
My supervisor is truly amazing and the work is overly satisfying.
This is my first post since arriving because the craziness of finding the right busses and trains to get from home to work, finding food (other than at the gas stations) and meeting people seems to fill the day! From here on out, I hope to fill you in on much of the day to day activities going on at WHO and my department.
So far I've been helping my supervisor to 'corral' the creative genius that comprises the team that will be compiling and authoring the 2010 Global Burden of Disease Project's Lead Assessment. So for most of this past week, I've been reading emails that my supervisor has recieved from the Team to catch up on everyone's comments and 'suggestions'.
Along with this, I'm being tasked to find every relevant article that has been published in the past 20 years on Lead. I'll provide our case definition for 'relevant articles' in the next posting.
For now I'm heading out to see some of Geneva before the big week starts tomorrow. Delete Comment
