Environmental Health Interns

A look into the lives of CSU's Current Environmental Health Interns

I went with Kate to Coor’s today to do smoke tests. She measures the smoke coming out of the baskets that catch the dust particles from the malt house and germination house. We got to walk around the roof tops of the Coor’s facility. It was a maze trying to find where we were supposed to be to measure them. We would go up a man-lift then up more stairs then pop our heads out on the roof and see the plume/vent two buildings over. It amazes me how they keep track of all that equipment and all the processes going on at that place.

They take these measurements twice a year to report to EPA. There are many
Plumes of steam, and smoke coming out of the Coors’ facility and Kate said that not all of them belong to Coor’s there are some that the electricity company or the freight company control. Which makes sense, when I did water sampling with Kate I was surprised to find out how much work they contract out, as well as most of the construction work that they do. I have learned so much this summer about how businesses work. It is pretty amazing how they function and I am pretty impressed with Ryan Hellman for how seamlessly his company seems to run.
